Window opening parameters, reveal tab

The parameters you can set up depend on the number of construction layers in the wall and whether you want to include reveals in the opening (settings in the Parameters area). Facing on the right/left is taken into account in the reveals.

Note: If you select type

, you can define the offset (left, right, top, bottom) separately for each layer. For all the other types, the offset applies either to the first wall layer or to the last wall layer. You can also use the advanced options of

Opening Designer.

Depending on the type of reveal you have selected, four different parameters are available. The abbreviations are explained in the legend and shown in the illustration.

Note: Allplan does not create the reveal element until you enter a value for the Window depth.

A Wall line clicked = exterior side of opening

3 Outer depth of reveal
4 Inner depth of reveal
5 Depth of opening (e.g. window, door)

Use the Outer reveal, Inner reveal and Window depth or Door depth parameters to define the exact position of the opening element (e.g. smart opening symbol).

The sum of Outer reveal and Inner reveal is the Wall thickness.

Use Window depth or Door depth to define the depth of the opening element which represents the position of the actual opening. Inner reveal includes the Window depth or Door depth value.

When you use smart opening symbols, the depth of the smart symbol should match the depth of the opening element.

If you want to create the reveal partially outside the opening, you can use the Outer reveal and Inner reveal parameters. Please note that the value for Inner reveal includes the value for Window depth or Door depth.

Reveal partially on the outside

If you want the window to project from the exterior side of the wall, you can add the projecting part to the value for Inner reveal. The maximum value for Inner reveal is wall thickness plus window depth. As a result, Outer reveal is negative. Its value equals that of the projecting part.

Reveal partially on the inside

If you want the window to project from the interior side, you can enter the wall thickness for Outer reveal. As a result, Inner reveal is zero and the window is in contact with the interior side of the wall.

When you enable this option in addition to Create reveal element, you can specify whether the reveal element is drawn beyond the window opening in the wall. The inside and outside options apply to the direction in which the window is entered.

Window depth or Door depth defines the depth of the reveal element outside the wall.

Window depth or Door depth plus Overlap define the position of the actual opening element (e.g. smart opening symbol).

In the case of walls with multiple construction layers in conjunction with reveal types with facing, you can specify the opening side to which the opening width entered is to apply.
