Lifting Door-SmartPart

Task area Opening Elements + Interior Finish

You can use this tool to create SmartParts for doors, more specifically for lifting doors.

SmartParts are parametric Allplan CAD objects that act according to their own inherent logic, which is independent of the CAD system. Parametric information is controlled by a script, which is directly attached to the object.

You can insert the SmartPart in door openings in linear walls. SmartParts adapts to any outline.

Allplan displays the modeling process in real time. You can save the finished SmartParts as smv files by means of the Save as a favorite tool. You can also save the SmartPart in a folder of the Library palette.

Notes: You can edit SmartParts using handles (graphic modification) or a dialog box (alphanumeric modification). To modify SmartParts graphically, you can use the Modify SmartPart using Handles tool, which you can find on the shortcut menu of the SmartPart.
You can also use the handles and the dialog box in combination. Double-click the SmartPart to open the properties palette of the SmartPart and to display the handles.
You can use Reports to analyze SmartParts for doors.

To model a lifting door SmartPart

  1. Click Lifting Door-SmartPart (How).

The Elements tab of the lifting door SmartPart opens.

Further information about the settings you can define on the tabs can be found here.

  2. You can now start modeling the lifting door SmartPart.

Note: When you slowly move the cursor horizontally across the parameters, the cursor changes to a double-headed arrow as soon as you reach the area between the parameter names and the boxes. You can now change the width of this area.

The SmartPart is attached at its drop-in point to the crosshairs. As soon as you point into a wall opening, the preview adapts to the outline of this opening.

  3. To place the SmartPart, click an existing wall opening.
When you place the lifting door SmartPart, it orients itself to the outer edges of the wall. The SmartPart then rests on the wall (outside or inside).

To place the element, use the tools in the input options.
You can specify an angle of rotation in the dialog line. Allplan then places the SmartPart at this angle.

While you are placing the SmartPart, you can see an arrow in the middle of the SmartPart. This arrow points toward the outside of the SmartPart. Depending on the position of the SmartPart within the opening, you can see another symbol, indicating that the SmartPart will be mirrored. You can select the size and color of these symbols by means of the Size of CursorTips for snap points and Color of CursorTips options ( Options (Quick Access Toolbar) - Point snap page - Point snap representation area.
  4. Select Esc to finish.

A copy of the SmartPart you selected last is attached to the crosshairs.

  5. Place more SmartParts or select Esc to close the tool.

Note: Double-click the SmartPart to modify it. You can use the palette or handles.
