Placing XRefs

Tool(s): XRef

When placing XRefs, you can set the following parameters:

Anchor point

Select the point at which the XRef is attached to the crosshairs when you place it in the workspace.

Drawing file number

You can see the numbers of the drawing files to be placed as XRefs. Click within this box to open the Drawing File dialog box, in which you can select the drawing files.

Place

Define how to place XRefs:

Resize

You can enter the scale of the XRef to be placed. To enlarge the XRef, enter a number < 1 (e.g. 0.5). To reduce the XRef, enter a number > 1. When Original position is selected in the Place area, the scale is set to 1:1 and cannot be altered.

Rotation angle

You can define the angle of the XRef to be placed. Positive angles turn the XRef in a counter-clockwise rotation.

Placing mode

You can choose to place the XRef as a normal XRef or as an advanced XRef. For more information, see Comparison between normal and advanced XRefs.

Planes (only available with advanced XRefs)

You can specify whether you want to use the default reference planes from the source document or the target document. Custom planes are always taken from the source.

Source: Uses the default reference planes defined in the document placed as an XRef.

Target: Uses the default reference planes defined in the document in which the XRef will be inserted.
