Navigation mode
Controlling what’s on your screen
Depending on whether you are designing or you want to get an impression of the model, you can use different navigation modes for controlling the display of your model on the screen: Design mode, Navigation mode or Fly mode.
Each mode has its specific properties:
- In Design mode, you can find the most important tools for drafting and designing directly on the shortcut menu. You must select this mode if you want to identify points and design entities. In design mode, you usually use the mouse for drafting and designing.
You can work in Design mode if you have configured
Design mode (How) as the navigation mode. - Navigation mode focuses on the motion of the model in front of the observer. Here, you use the mouse and the tools on the shortcut menu to move around the 3D model and to visualize it. Therefore, you cannot click or select individual points or objects in navigation mode .
You can work in Navigation mode if you have configured
Navigation mode (How) as the navigation mode in the viewport.
If you want to identify a point or an entire object, switch to design mode in the active viewport or switch to a viewport in which this is activated. - Fly mode allows the observer to move around the model. You can control this primarily by pressing and holding down the keys on the keypad known from other applications (W - A - S - D):
W - Fly to model
A - Fly to the left
S - Fly away from model
D - Fly to the right
You can also use the middle and right mouse button as well as the arrow keys on the keypad to control this.
Unlike Navigation mode , you can click on or select individual objects in Fly·mode. You are taken to Fly·mode if you have configured
Fly·mode (How) as the navigation mode.
As you can select the Navigation mode separately for each viewport, you can quickly and easily switch from one viewport in Design mode to another viewport in Navigation or Fly mode and check your design there.
