Rotating elements in plan

Tool(s): Rotate

You can use the Rotate tool (Plan option) to rotate elements about an axis that is perpendicular to the plan plane.

To rotate elements in plan

1. Click Rotate (How).
   

   Activate Rotate in one of the following ways

   • Actionbar:Task area Edit

   • Menu bar: Edit

   • Keyboard: SHIFT+CTRL+D
2. Click Plan in the input options.
3. Select the elements you want to rotate in plan.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a selection rectangle, hold down the left mouse button and open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select.
   • Some tools allow you to select all elements in the current document by clicking All in the input options or pressing CTRL+A.

   When selecting elements, you can use filters, which allow you to filter by element type or property. For more information, see Using filters.

4. Enter the base point for the rotation.
5. Define the angle of rotation in one of the following ways:
   • Enter the angle in the dialog line and press ENTER to confirm. A positive angle produces counter-clockwise rotation.
   • Specify a starting point and direction point for the rotation.
   • Click a line (this serves as the reference line) and then another line (serves as the direction line). The element is rotated by the smaller of the two angles produced by the lines. This way, you can align an element with existing elements, for example.
