Perform parallel installation

If required, you can install Allplan 2023 at the same time as already installed previous Allplan versions (2022 and older).

How to install Allplan 2023 together with older Allplan versions

• You have administrator rights for the workstation in question
• You have downloaded and unpacked the installation package (see “Downloading and unpacking the installation package”)
• Read the following before installing:
  • System requirements for Allplan 2023
  • Installation with existing installation of Allplan
  • Some notes on the data structure
  • Prior to installing: Backing up data

1. Sign in as an administrator on the workstation where Allplan 2023 will be installed.
2. Double-click AllplanSetup.exe in the folder you used to unpack the installation package.
3. If you want to perform a complete first-time installation:
   In the welcome screen, under New installation, select the option New installation without transfer of project data, office and user settings.

   Or:

   If you want to keep your settings from the (latest) previous version:
   On the Welcome screen, under New installation, select Re-installation with transfer of office and user settings.

   Please note! Project data is not transferred even with this setting selected. However, you can directly import project data from Allplan 2022, 2021 or 2020 in a targeted and convenient way using the Import Project function in the New Project, Open Project dialog box after installation. If you want to import project data from older versions to Allplan 2023, please update them at least to version 2020 (see "Data transfer from versions before 2020").

4. Confirm the welcome screen by clicking Start setup.
5. Confirm the terms of the software license agreement displayed in the following License terms dialog box by clicking Agree.
6. On the General tab of the Settings dialog box, under Select Country, select the country-specific settings to install, and under Select Language, select the language for the Allplan user interface.

   Note: The country and language that are set for the operating system at the relevant workstation are suggested. If the country or language is not known, English is used.

7. Only if you want to perform a custom installation:
   Switch to the Options tab of the Settings dialog box and select the components to be installed.
   • Countries: Content, elements, template files, plan headers, label objects, defined standards and smart symbols typical for the respective country.
   • Languages: Languages available for Allplan after installation for displaying menus, texts and templates.
   • Further tools: Additional content and tools
   • Manufacturer-specific user data: Content provided by the respective manufacturers for further use in Allplan.
   • Demo projects: Automatic installation of the demo project “Hello Allplan!”.
8. Click Install.

   The installation of Allplan 2023 will start.

9. After successful installation, you can decide in the Installation dialog box whether Allplan 2023 should start immediately afterwards.

   Select or deselect the check box and start Allplan! and confirm with finish to complete installation.

   Note: If the installation could not be completed successfully, you will receive a corresponding message. In this case, in the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp you will find the file Error Report of Allplan_Installer.zip. The file contains important information that you can pass on to ALLPLAN GmbH Technical Support in the event that you need to contact them.

10. In certain cases, you will be prompted to restart your computer after the installation of Allplan 2023 is complete.

    In this case, restart the computer and sign in again after the restart as a local administrator or as a user with administrator rights.
