Finding documents

Common approaches in ProjectPilot

You can search for objects (documents, folders, or projects) in ProjectPilot. The program creates a temporary folder - Search results - in the tree view, displaying the objects found in the document window.

To find documents

1. Right-click a folder and select Find on the shortcut menu.

   The Define search criteria dialog box opens.

2. Go to Attribute and select the attribute you want to find.
3. Go to Operator and select the logical operator.
   

   =	same as
   <	less or smaller than
   >	more or greater than
   <=	less or smaller than or equal to
   >=	more or greater than or equal to
   <>	other than
   like	contains characters in the sequence specified (also for occurrences with wildcards)

   Note: You can only see operators that are appropriate to the selected attribute.

4. Go to Value and enter the condition that the attribute is to fulfill.
5. Click Add line.
6. If you want to enter more conditions, define the next condition, specify how the conditions are to be linked and click Add line again.
   

   • If the element is to meet all the conditions, select the AND operator.
   • If the element is to meet just one of several conditions, select the OR operator.
   • If the element is to meet the first condition but not the other one, select the NOT operator.

   When there are more than two conditions, the AND operator has precedence over the OR operator.

7. When you have finished defining criteria, click Find.

   The program creates a temporary folder - Search results - in the tree view, displaying the objects found in the document window.
