First-time installation in network

To perform a first-time installation on a network

• You have administrator rights for the network in question
• You have downloaded and unpacked the installation package (see “Downloading and unpacking the installation package”)
• Read the following before installing:
  • System requirements for Allplan 2023
  • Installation versions for new or first-time installation of Allplan
  • Some notes on the data structure

1. Create a folder for central file storage (= central file storage folder) on the computer that is intended to be used as the data server.
2. Share the central file storage folder with all users in the network who will access the data stored there via their Allplan workstation.

   Note: If network operation with workgroup manager is planned and the central file storage folder is located on one of the workstations, then this also applies to the Allplan workstation installed there or to its user.

3. Install Allplan 2023 on the first workstation as described in “First-time installation on a standalone workstation ”.

   Specify the folder created and shared in step 1. for the central file storage on the data server as the central file storage folder.

   Note: If an Allplan workstation is also to be set up on the computer intended to be the data server, start with this computer.

4. Only if you are planning to operate Allplan via network with workgroup manager:
   Select the workgroup manager as described in the following section “Setting up the workgroup manager”.
5. Install Allplan 2023 on all other workstations as described in “First-time installation on a standalone workstation”.

   In each case, specify the folder created and shared in step 1. for the central file storage on the data server as the central file storage folder.

   Note: If the Workgroup Manager was selected after installation of the first Allplan workstation (see step 4.), it will be automatically selected on all other Allplan workstations installed in the same network by selecting the central file storage folder.

6. Check every desk to see whether Allplan 2023 starts correctly.
7. Only if you are planning to operate Allplan via network with workgroup manager:
   Configure your workgroup as described in "Select workgroup manager and set up workgroup".
