Import IFC Data function / IFC Import Settings (default) dialog box

You can use this dialog box to specify advanced or customized settings for importing IFC data.

To open the advanced IFC Import Settings dialog box

File name

Text Box

Enter the path and name for the import file directly (file ending .ifc, .ifcXML or .ifczip) or click Browse.

Browse

Click Browse to define the storage location and file name of the file to be imported via the Open dialog box.

Exchange profile

List box

Select one of the pre-defined exchange profiles or click Custom to define your own customized import settings.

Exchange profiles

“Exchange profiles” area

The exchange profiles delivered with Allplan (\ETC) as well as the previously used exchange profiles (office standard \STD) are displayed here at the top. Click to select the current exchange profile; it is marked with .

Note: The exchange profile also includes the current attribute assignment. When you select an exchange profile, Allplan automatically loads the associated attribute assignment.

Find...

You can find exchange profiles.

Save as ...

You can save the current settings as an exchange profile.

Remove

You can remove the selected exchange profile. This does not delete the exchange profile itself but merely removes the exchange profile from the list of exchange profiles.

Information...

Shows further information about the selected exchange profile. You can edit the info texts of exchange profiles that you created yourself.

Coordinates and length parameters

Uni and resizing area

Unit

Allplan automatically imports the data using the source file's unit of length. For export, you can choose the unit for the destination file; meters is set by default. Discuss this with your data exchange partner.

Resizing factor

You can use this to enlarge (>1) or reduce (<1) coordinates and length values in the data being converted.

Move area

Additional offset

You can move the data by a value you specify. This changes the coordinates themselves. Use this option only if you need the data for internal use only and you do not need to export the data again (coordinates in site plans are legally binding).

Allplan always uses Meter for the unit of length, regardless of the setting in the Options - Work environment or on the status bar.

Note: By selecting the Consider project offset option, you can configure Allplan to consider the offset defined in the Project Properties when exporting or importing data. The Optimize large coordinates option optimizes the coordinates of the elements internally in the program during import.

Element Filter

You can define the elements that you want to transfer. Expand the required node and select the elements that you want to transfer. Ctrl+A selects or clears the selection of all elements including those in collapsed nodes.

Geometry

"Geometry" area

Import all components as user-defined archit. elements

Select this option to import all components as user-defined architectural elements. Use this option if your work requires only the geometries of the components without any attributes. This option is not selected by default.

Note: By selecting this option, you exclude rooms (IfcSpace) from import. As a result, you cannot select the Room option in the Finish area on the Element filter tab.

Use enhanced representation of freeform geometric objects

Use this option to define the quality of freeform geometric objects for import.

Number of U-curves, number of V-curves

Enter the Number of U curves and Number of V curves of freeform geometric objects (isocurves), thus defining the shape and precision of the representation.

Attribute mapping

"Attribute assignment" area

Shows existing attribute assignments. Clicking an attribute assignment marks it with . This then becomes the file for attribute assignment of relevance for the next export. If you double click (or press the Edit button) on Attribute assignment, you can then edit items in the Conversion direction Allplan to IFC dialog box (for IFC exports) or in the Direction of conversion IFC to Allplan dialog box (for IFC imports).

Use attribute assignments from office standard

When you select this option, you can select the attribute assignments from the office standard for transfer. You can select this option only if the office standard (...\STD\) contains a default file for attribute assignment named Standard_PropertyMap_Allplan_TO_Ifc.cfg (for export) or Standard_PropertyMap_Ifc_TO_Allplan.cfg (for import).

Transfer assigned attributes only

When you select this option, Allplan does not transfer the complete attribute set of a component but only the attributes that have been assigned additionally.

Find...

You can find attribute assignments.

New...

You can create a new attribute assignment. Enter the path and name of the new attribute assignment and confirm. You can then define your customized attribute assignment in the Conversion direction Allplan to IFC dialog box (for IFC exports) or in the Direction of conversion IFC to Allplan dialog box (for IFC imports).

Copy...

You can copy the current attribute assignment, which is marked with . Enter the path and name for the copied attribute assignment and confirm. You can then amend your copy in line with your own requirements in the Conversion direction Allplan to IFC dialog box (for IFC exports) or in the Direction of conversion IFC to Allplan dialog box (for IFC imports).

Remove

You can remove the selected attribute assignment from the list. The assignment file (.cfg) saved for the attribute assignment is not deleted. This means therefore that the attribute assignment can be restored to the selection list at any time by using Find.

Edit

You can open and edit the selected attribute assignment. You can then amend the attribute assignment in line with your own requirements in the Conversion direction Allplan to IFC dialog box (for IFC exports) or in the Direction of conversion IFC to Allplan dialog box (for IFC imports).

In the lower border of the dialog box

Save as a favorite
