Stair palette - Rough carriage tab

Tools: Stair Modeler + Modify Stair Modeler / Stair palette

You can only see this tab when the Create 3D representation option is selected in the Representation area on the Settings taband the check box for the relevant stair element is selected on the Elements tab.

Dimensions

Sketch of the stair element, including descriptions of the dimensions.

Rough carriage

Thickness

Defines the dimension of the stair element perpendicular to its component axis.

Height

Defines the dimension of the stair element perpendicular to the base area.

Offset to the left / right

Defines the horizontal distance between the stair element and the outer stair boundary on the left or right in the walking direction.

Select the check box to connect the stair element directly to the outer stair boundary on the left or right. If the stair includes stringers, this value is defined automatically by the Width of the stringer on the left or right.

Offset at front

Defines the horizontal distance between the front edge of the stair element and the front edge of the tread above.

Select this check box to place the rough carriage below the tread so that the rough carriage is centered. This value is defined automatically by 1/2 x Tread - 1/2 x Thickness of the rough carriage.

Offset at top

Defines the vertical distance between the top level of the stair element and the top level of the tread above.

Select the check box to connect the stair element directly to the tread above. Consequently, this value is defined automatically by the Thickness of the tread. If the stair includes stair slabs, this value is defined automatically by the Thickness of the tread plus the Thickness of the stair slab.

2D representation

Create

Select the check box to display the stair element in plan view.

3D representation

Layer

You can set the layer for the stair element.

Color

You can set the line color for the stair element. Select the check box to take the line color from the layer set. Otherwise, you can choose any line color.

Pen

You can set the pen thickness for the stair element. Select the check box to take the pen thickness from the layer set. Otherwise, you can choose any pen thickness.

Line

You can set the line type for the stair element. Select the check box to take the line type from the layer set. Otherwise, you can choose any line type.

Surface

You can assign a custom surface to the stair element; this surface is visible when you select the Animation view type or render the stair element. To assign a surface, you can use the Surfaces palette as you would using the Assign Custom Surfaces to 3D, Archit. Elements tool.

Select the Align option to position the texture relative to the dimensions of the component. For example, you can position the texture so that it is parallel to the longest edge.

Section

You can define setting for displaying the stair element in sections.

Fill / Hatching / Pattern / Style Area

Select the check box of the surface element you want to use to display the stair element in sections. You can only select one surface element. Use the list box to the select the number of the surface element you want to use.

If you want to display the outline of the stair element only, clear all check boxes.
