A three-dimensional design serves as the basis for analyses, quantity takeoffs, design checks and visualization of your building.
Allplan includes different tools that you can use to convert your 2D designs more or less automatically to three-dimensional architectural elements like, say, walls: based on rooms, based on 2D floor plans with walls consisting of parallel lines or based on simple 2D lines.
3D from rooms (using a 2D floor plan)
With the Create Walls from Rooms tool you can automatically create three-dimensional walls from a 2D floor plan provided that you have already defined rooms in the plan.
The Create Walls from Rooms tool is particularly useful when you have scanned in the plan of an existing building and have displayed and modified it using the tools in the As-completed Drawings task area. You may already have created rooms in order to calculate the floor area or analyze other data. If you now want to work with three-dimensional walls – simply use Create Walls from Rooms!
You can define the required wall thickness for an exterior wall and several interior walls beforehand – familiar attributes like material, building trade, calculation mode etc. are available as you do so. Allplan automatically scans the drawing files for adjoining rooms and creates a wall where the offset distance between rooms matches the thickness of one of the defined interior walls. The rooms which serve as the basis for the operation may be in active or edit drawing files.
3D from 2D floor plans
You can use the Create Walls from 2D Plan tool to extrude walls based on two-dimensional parallel lines separated by an offset you specify (the wall thickness). This way, existing floor plans can easily be converted to volume models.
Here, too, you define several wall thicknesses and attributes like material, building trade, calculation mode etc. beforehand.
3D from lines
The Create Walls from Lines tool lets you create three-dimensional walls along two-dimensional lines. You can use this feature to quickly convert 2D sketches into volume models.
Here, you first define a wall type and then enter the attributes for it. Then, you activate all the lines that are to be converted to the wall type in question. The procedure is the same for the other wall types.
Materials of automatically created walls
To enter several walls with the same thickness but different materials in a structure, use one of the standard modification tools to change the parameters of the walls.
You can use the following tools:
