Recesses palette (openings in walls and slabs)

Tools: Create Wall Openings + Create Slab Openings

Recess objects

3D solids

Select the include check box to use 3D solids as the basis for openings.

Smart symbols

Select the include check box to use Smart symbols as the basis for openings. The smart symbols must contain 3D objects.

When you choose to include Smart symbols, you can use filter attributes to further restrict the selection:

Filter attribute

Select a Filter attribute. The drop-down list contains all attributes that are defined in Allplan. The Name attribute is preset.

Filter value

Enter the value of the attribute selected in Filter attribute.

Shape attribute

Select a Shape attribute as an alternative. The drop-down list contains all attributes that are defined in Allplan.

Shape values

Define the values of the Shape attribute; Rectangle|Round|Polygon is preset.

Note: You cannot filter by geometry for the time being. Therefore, the Filter attribute works just like the Shape attribute.

Note: All filter options apply only to smart symbols; they do not apply to 3D solids.

Tolerance

If the opening solids do not exactly penetrate the components or if they are not congruent, you can enter a value up to which the program tolerates imprecisions. So, you prevent the program from creating only a recess with the minimum residual thickness of the component instead of an opening.

Objects Select

Click to turn on the filter and to apply it to the selected objects.

Attribute mapping

Recess object - Opening object

After you have selected the 3D solids and smart symbols, the Recess object column lists all attributes of the recess objects. Click an attribute row in the Opening object column to assign an Allplan attribute to this attribute. It is the Allplan attribute that gets the value. The drop-down list contains all attributes that are defined in Allplan. Allplan remembers the attributes assigned even you close the program.

Note: Attributes of the recesses and openings will not be transferred automatically. But you can use Attribute mapping to assign these attributes to Allplan attributes.

Recesses found

After you have selected the 3D solids and smart symbols, this area lists the recesses found.

Note: Select one or more rows in the table to highlight the relevant objects in detection color. Use the Shift key to select several consecutive rows; use the Ctrl key to select several individual rows.

Min. dimension

You can define the minimum size of the recess. Consequently, Allplan lists only objects that are larger. 0.0000 is preset (all sizes).

Columns in the table

Type

Indicates an opening (WO/SO) or a recess (WR/SR) in the wall or slab.

Width, Height, Depth

Indicate the dimensions of the opening that Allplan creates by intersecting the opening object and the component.

TL, BL

Indicate the absolute z-coordinates of the bottom level and top level of the opening.

Shape

Indicates the shape of the opening (Rectangular, Polygonal, Round).

Zoom

Zooms in on the object in the active viewport.

/ Selection

Each recess found gets the marker . Click to select the recess that you want to use.

Delete after matching

Select the Delete check box to automatically delete the 3D solids and smart symbols afterward.
