Structural framing column

Task area Structural Framing Objects

You can use this tool to create perpendicular structural framing columns with different cross-sectional shapes: rectangular, round, or any profile from the library.

Note: Whether this tool is available to you depends on the Allplan license installed at this workstation.

To create perpendicular structural framing columns

  1. Click Structural Framing Column (How).
  2. Define the parameters on the three tabs of the Structural framing column palette.

A preview of the column is attached to the crosshairs while you are making settings in the Structural framing column palette.

  3. When you have finished, place the column in any view in the workspace.

The height of the column is based on the settings in the Height dialog box. The z-coordinate of the drop-in point will be ignored.

  4. Click Close or select Esc if you do not want to create another column.

To modify the parameters of structural framing columns

  1. Right-click a column and select Properties on the shortcut menu.
    Or
    Double-click a column.

The Structural framing column palette opens.

  2. To select more columns for modification, click the columns one after the other or use a selection rectangle. To exclude columns already selected from modification, click them.
  3. Change the required parameters in the Structural framing column palette.

If you have selected several columns for modification, you can neither save the parameters by using Save as a favorite nor assign attributes on the Attributes tab. Different parameters are not visible. If there are different settings, the check boxes of the varying parameters are filled; you can see the entry *varied*. If there are different settings for the top and bottom levels, you can see a general, gray symbol. If there are different reference points or shapes of cross-sections, no button is selected.

Any changes that you make in the palette are immediately visible in the workspace. When you change the reference point itself or the distances defined for the reference point, the column moves accordingly. The position of the anchor point does not change.

  4. Click Close or select Esc to finish.
