Task area Rooms, Surfaces, Stories + Surfaces, Light
When you define and modify rooms, vertical surfaces and finishing surfaces can be assigned their own surfaces. As a result, the interior and exterior of a room can have different surfaces.
For example, you might assign a different surface to the floor than the surface assigned to the ceiling or walls. By defining several (special) vertical surfaces of different thicknesses for a single wall, you can display different surfaces on the same wall (e.g., picture, mirror and wallpaper).
The vertical and finishing surfaces are extruded by the thickness entered and cut at the openings in the wall, slab etc.
You can enter surfaces when you create vertical surfaces and finishing surfaces. You can also do this later using various modification options.
Note: If a surface consists of several layers, you must assign the animation surface to the layer at the top. Otherwise, the surface is not visible in animation.
Tip: The Surface used for animation is listed separately in the dialog box.
Note: As in quantity takeoff, animation surfaces of special surfaces have a higher priority than ‘normal’ finishing surfaces.
Tip: Animation surfaces for finishing surfaces and special surfaces may slow down animation and rendering. Normally, you do not need them if you want to view your building from the outside. Using the Options - Rooms - Representation of finish elements area, you can hide Vertical surfaces, Floors, Ceilings, Baseboard and Areas from Allplan BCM building groups. Select these options if you want to render specific views, for viewing objects from the inside, for example.
To define animation surfaces for interiors and stories
The Surfaces palette opens.
The program enters the animation surface in the Custom Surface column.
