Box (freely positionable)

To create a freely positionable box

1. Click Box (How).
   

   Activate Box in one of the following ways

   • Actionbar:Role Draft Task Modeling Task area 3D Objects

   • Menu bar: Create Bonus Tools 3D Modeling

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   3D Modeling

2. In the Input options, click Custom.
3. Set the first corner of the box.
4. Define the length of the first edge of the box:
   • Click a point in 3D view.
   • Enter the length of the first edge in the dialog line and define the direction by entering a direction point.
     

     The program expects you to specify a direction point when the position of an element in 3D space has not been defined explicitly.

     To enter direction points, do the following:

     • Click in an elevation or isometric viewport to enter the direction above or below an element.
     • Click an existing point in an elevation or isometric viewport. The direction is defined based on its Y and/or Z coordinate.
     • When you click a point in plan view, its Z coordinate is not used.
       You can use the Brackets tool and Delta Point to enter a Z coordinate for this point.
5. Define the length of the second edge of the box:
   • In a 3D view, click a point which is to be located on the parallel edge of the box
   • Enter the length of the second edge in the dialog line and define the direction by entering a direction point.
6. Define the height of the box:
   • Click an existing point in 3D view.
   • Enter the height in the dialog line:
     A positive value points in the direction of the user; a negative value points in the opposite direction.(Example)
     The manner in which the direction is interpreted depends on the projection of the window which is active when the box is designed.
     If the system cannot define the height clearly, it will prompt you to enter a direction point.

     (H) Point on parallel surface of box
     (I) Height
     (J) Direction point (if necessary)
