"Formats" palette

Palette(s): Hidden Line Image in Target Document

You can open the Formats palette while generating a hidden line image. All you need to do is click the Formats button (in the Representation area) of the Hidden Line Image in Target Document palette.

Adjacent edges

Select this option to define the maximum angle of joint. In addition, you can define settings in the Adjacent edges for architectural components area.

Maximum angle of joint

You can specify an angle up to which surfaces are merged in order to make curves appear smoother. Setting a large angle causes curves to appear as a silhouette.

Adjacent edges of archit. components

You can specify how adjacent edges of architectural components look. This setting is only available if you have selected the Eliminate option. Otherwise, both options are active by default.

When Display between different surface elements or Display when material changes is selected, adjacent edges are visible when surface elements change (hatching style, pattern, fill) or when materials change within a component.
Note: You can decide whether you want to use surface elements or materials. To do this, open the Options on the Components and architecture page and select the setting you want to use in the Components area. Consequently, Allplan only offers the appropriate option.

When Display with round components is selected, adjacent edges of round components (wall, column, chimney) are visible. This option is usually switched off.

When you select this check box, you can see all visible edges. The program uses the format properties you define here.
When you select the check box for Pen, Line, Color or Layer, the elements are displayed with the format properties set in this palette. Otherwise, the elements retain the format properties with which they were drawn.

Hidden edges

When you select this check box, you can also see hidden edges. The program uses the format properties you define here.
When you select the check box for Pen, Line, Color or Layer, the elements are displayed with the format properties set in this palette. Otherwise, the elements retain the format properties with which they were drawn.

Display section edges

Display boundary lines

When you select this check box, boundary lines are used to display notional edges. These are visible edges that are created in the process of intersecting the components with the section object and that do not represent the boundary of an area.
You can specify the projection of boundary lines in the unit of length set. In addition, you can select the Pen, Line, Color and Layer for these lines.
When this check box is not selected, the corresponding edges are not visible.

Tip: To display notional edges in the same way as visible edges, select the check box, enter 0.00 for the projection and set the format properties for the boundary lines so that they match those of the visible edges.

Display section edges with a thick line

Use this option to display intersected elements with a thick line. You can choose to apply a thick line to exterior edges or to all edges. Define the Pen, Line, Color and Layer for the thick line.
This setting only applies to components with hatching, pattern or fill. Roof covering, rafters, other timber elements or smart symbols are not affected.

Hidden and intersected edges

Show edges

When you select this check box, hidden edges resulting from the intersection of the components with the section object are displayed using the Pen, Line, Color and Layer defined here.
If this check box is not selected, hidden and intersected edges are not visible.

Note: Hidden and intersected edges are only visible when you have selected the Display hidden and intersected edges check box on the Edges tab. Intersected edges that are not hidden and not in the clipping plane are displayed in the same way as boundary lines.

Select this option to display the intersected areas of architectural components and 3D objects together with their surface elements assigned.

3D objects / Hidden surfaces

You can specify how to display the surfaces of intersected 3D objects and hidden areas.

Representation

Options - finish elements

Click to open the Options on the Rooms tab. There you can change the settings for displaying finish elements.
Choose the finish elements you want to display. In addition, enter the Minimum total thickness and the Minimum thickness per layer (finishing surfaces of which the layer thickness is less than this minimum are not visible in hidden line images). Finally, define whether you want to display vertical finish elements using a symbolic thickness or the real thickness.

Note: Allplan displays each layer of a finishing surface.

Apply surface elements to finishing surfaces

When you select this check box, the hatching, pattern, fill or style area applied to the finishing surfaces using the Floor, Ceiling or Room tool, Finish tab, is displayed in sections.

Define the Pen, Line, Color and Layer for the Finish lines.
