Extruding a 3D surface

Tools: Extrude

To create a 3D solid based on a 3D surface

  1. Click Extrude (How).
  2. Using the context toolbar, you can specify how the extruded solid behaves:
  3. Click Extrude Surface on the Extrude Context toolbar.

Tip: When you point to the surface, Allplan highlights it with a fill in detection color.

  4. Click in the surface you want to extrude.
You can select exterior surfaces of 3D solids and any 3D surfaces.

Note: The program automatically detects 3D surfaces and selects Extrude Surface on the context toolbar.

  5. To extrude the surface, move the crosshairs into the required direction and click the end point. Use the viewport with the view that works best for you.

    Or

Enter the Length in the dialog line and select the Enter key to confirm.
The value applies to the selected surface.

Note: The Length must not be less than 1 mm.

Note: The extrusion path is always perpendicular to the reference surface.

    Allplan creates the extruded solid.

Note: When you use polygonal elements as initial elements, Allplan creates polygonal 3D objects if this is possible. When you use initial elements with curves, Allplan creates general 3D objects (BREPs, NURBS).
