Importing SMZ files

Using content

Program: Allplan 2020

When downloading SmartParts from the content area of Allplan Connect, you usually get data in SMZ format.

A SMZ file (SMartPart Zipped) contains a single SmartPart including all external resources (zipped). This SmartPart inherently conveys information on the target folder where it and its external resources are to be decompressed automatically when you drag this file to Allplan.

To open a SMZ file and insert it in a drawing file

  1. Download the file.
  2. Drag the file into the workspace.

Tip: You can also drag the SmartPart directly from the Connect palette into the workspace. This way, you do not need to save it first.

The SmartPart is attached to the crosshairs.

  3. Click in the workspace to place the SmartPart.
The Input Options provide a number of tools you can use to place the element.

You can use the palette or a dialog box or the handles to change the properties of SmartParts. If the format properties are not defined in the SmartPart itself, Allplan uses the settings defined in the Properties palette.

  4. Click Apply to confirm the changes and click OK to close the dialog box.
  5. Press ESC to finish.

A copy of the SmartPart you selected last is attached to the crosshairs.

  6. Place more SmartParts or press ESC to quit the tool.

Note: Double-click a SmartPart or select Properties on the shortcut menu to modify existing SmartParts using dialog boxes and handles.

Note: Once imported you can select the SmartPart in the SmartParts library.

The SmartParts library in the Library palette makes it easier for you to use imported SmartParts in your projects. You can open the library using the Library palette. Navigate through the folders of the palette; this takes you to the Office and Default folders containing the SmartParts that come with Allplan.
