Export NID File

You can use this tool to compress an entire layout into an NID Internet Document. This type of file is a convenient way of exchanging data (with a partner office, for example).

Please note that an NID file created in versions earlier than Allplan 2020 cannot be imported as the data need to be converted in these versions.

To create an NID Internet document

1. Click Export NID File (How).
   

   Activate Export NID File in one of the following ways

   • Actionbar:Task Layout Editor Task area Layout Editor

   • Menu bar: Create Layout

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Layout

2. Click the Layout number button and select the layout using the Layout structure.
3. You can also add comments. If you want to make the file available on the Internet, enter the URL.
4. The file name proposed by the program is based on the name of the layout (for example, Views and Sections -> views.nid). You can also enter any other name.
5. You can choose to save all the resources (line types, hatching styles and so on) together with the NID file. This is recommended if you and the person you are exchanging the data with have not explicitly agreed on any data exchange conventions. However, this will increase the file size considerably.
6. If an email program is installed on your computer and you enable the Send to recipient of mail option, the email program opens automatically and the NID file is attached to the email. Enter a recipient and continue as usual.

   Windows MAPI Messages

   The email program installed is opened via the Windows MAPI function. Depending on the program installed, MAPI error numbers might be displayed when a transfer error occurs.

   These numbers mean the following:

   1 Process terminated by user
   2 Undefined error
   3 Log on failed
   4 Hard disk full
   5 Not enough memory
   6 Access denied
   7 General error
   8 Too many sessions
   9 Too many files
   10 Too many recipients
   11 File attachment not found
   12 Error occurred when opening the file attachment
   13 Error occurred when writing the file attachment
   14 Unknown recipient
   15 Invalid recipient type
   16 No message
   17 Invalid message
   18 Text too long
   19 Invalid session
   20 Type not supported
   21 Ambivalent recipient
   22 Message being used
   23 Network error
   24 Invalid data entry box
   25 Invalid recipients
