Task area Edit

You can use this tool to copy elements along the x-axis and y-axis within a rectangular or custom grid in a single step.

To copy elements in an array

1. Click Array (How).
   

   Activate Array in one of the following ways

   • Actionbar:Task area Edit

   • Menu bar: Create Draft

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Draft

2. Select the elements you want to copy.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a selection rectangle, hold down the left mouse button and open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select.
   • Some tools allow you to select all elements in the current document by clicking All in the input options or pressing CTRL+A.

   When selecting elements, you can use filters, which allow you to filter by element type or property. For more information, see Using filters.

3. Enter the angle in the X direction in one of the following ways:
   • Enter the angle in the dialog line and press Enter to confirm.
   • Specify 2 direction points.
4. Enter the number of copies (note that with the first entry, the original element is also counted – see the example).
5. Enter the spacing between the copies.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to generate further copies using a different spacing value.
7. When you are ready, enter 0 to go to the y-axis prompts.
8. Repeat steps 3 through 7 for the Y-axis.
