Moving elements by means of direct object modification

To move elements by means of direct object modification

  1. Select the elements you want to move.
  2. Point to the handle_move central move handle so that it appears green (or in the current selection preview color); then click.

The selected elements are attached to the crosshairs. The handle_move central move handle serves as the drop-in point so that you can place the elements exactly.

  3. Move the elements to their new position.

To do this, click the required point.

    Or:

Use the coordinate dialog box to enter the delta values for the move based on the origin (the data entry boxes are highlighted in white) or based on any other reference point currently snapped (the data entry boxes are highlighted in yellow).

Or if you want to use a different handle or reference point as the starting point for the move:

  1. Select the elements you want to move.
  2. Point to the point you want to use as the starting point.

    Important!
This must be a defined point in one of the open drawing files.

    The context toolbar appears.

Tip: You can specify the time it takes the program to display the context toolbar. To do this, select the Options - Desktop environment - Direct object modification - Context toolbar and enter a value from 300 to 20,000 milliseconds for the Time limit. Here, you can also add more tools to the context toolbar.

  3. Click the tool you want to use and move the elements.

Or if you do not need to place the elements exactly:

  1. Select the elements you want to move.
  2. Point to one of the selected elements (do not get too close to a handle!) so that the symbol appears at the crosshairs.
  3. Drag the elements to their new position.

Press and hold down the left mouse button while dragging the elements.
