To share a printer for other users on the network

  1. Click Start at the bottom on the left. If you are running Windows 8/7, point to Settings and click Control Panel. If you are running Windows 10, point to All apps - Windows System and click Control Panel. Then click Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click the printer you want to share.
  3. On the shortcut menu, click Printer properties and select the Sharing tab or click Sharing....

Note: Click Additional Drivers... to install more drivers so that users with computers running different Windows operating systems can select these drivers when they connect to shared printers.

  4. Select the Share this printer option and enter a share name.

You can enter long printer names including blanks and special characters. However, some clients may not support long names.
If the network includes different clients, printer names should consist of a maximum of 31 characters and should not include special characters and blanks.

  5. Click OK to confirm.
