Modify Smart Symbol

Task area Smart Symbols

You can use this tool to modify how a smart symbol looks. The modification applies to all the instances of the smart symbol in the current document.

Note: You can also use this tool to modify smart symbols you have created using Smart Window and Door Symbols. But you cannot combine the foils of smart window and door symbols with the foils of custom smart symbols. You need to convert the smart window and door symbols to custom smart symbols first. To do this, use the Smart Window and Door Symbols tool.

To modify the display parameters in all of a smart symbol’s instances

1. Click Modify Smart Symbol (How).
   

   Activate Modify Smart Symbol in one of the following ways

   • Actionbar:Role Draft Task User-Defined Objects Task area Smart Symbols

   • Menu bar: Change Bonus Tools Smart Symbols

   • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

   Smart Symbols

2. Click an instance of the smart symbol that you want to display differently.

   The Modify Smart Symbol dialog box appears.

3. You can now modify the following parameters of the smart symbol:
   • Smart symbol name and folder
   • General attributes of the smart symbol
   • Attributes of a smart symbol definition
   • Display parameters of smart symbol foils
   • You can also modify the display parameters using the shortcut menu provided in the dialog box.
   • You can view the smart symbol and its foils in the preview.
4. If you want to save the modified smart symbol, select the Save to option and enter a name for the smart symbol and specify the folder.
   If you do not change the Smart symbol name, Allplan will overwrite the original smart symbol.
5. Click OK to apply the settings.
