Create 3rd solid from common volume of 2 solids

Task area Boolean Operators

You can use this tool to create a third solid from the common volume of two solids.
You can also use this tool to create a third surface from the overlapping area of 3D surfaces; the overlapping area is retained as a discrete 3D surface.

Note: The solid you select first defines the properties and attributes of the new solid. The other solid retains its properties and attributes.

To create a third solid from the common volume of two solids

  1. Click Create 3rd Solid from Common Volume of 2 Solids (How).
  2. Select the first solid. This solid defines the properties and attributes of the new solid.
  3. Select the second solid.

Three solids or three 3D surfaces are created.

Note: The elements must be of the same type (either solids or 3D surfaces).

Note: When you use polygonal elements as initial elements, Allplan creates polygonal 3D objects if this is possible. When you use initial elements with curves, Allplan creates general 3D objects (BREPs, NURBS).

    (A) This creates three solids.
