Modify Offset

Task area Change

You can use this tool to modify the offset between parallel 2D lines and parallel edges of 3D elements like boxes and surfaces.

Special features relevant to modifying parallel edges of 3D elements

To modify the offset between parallel lines

1. Click Modify Offset (How).
   

   Activate Modify Offset in one of the following ways

   • Actionbar:Change task area

   • Menu bar: Edit

   • Keyboard: SHIFT+CTRL+A
2. Click the reference line.
3. Click a line that is parallel to the reference line.
   If you want, you can click the reference line again. In this case, the offset it based on this line.

   Note: Adjoining lines are also changed.
   If one or more lines start at the end points of the line you are modifying, you can specify in the Input Options whether you want to move the line in the direction of one of the adjoining lines (Retain direction on) or whether you want to move the line so that it is parallel (Retain direction off).
   Example

   The current offset is displayed in the dialog line.

4. Enter the offset in one of the following ways:
   • Click a point through which the line is to pass.
   • Enter the offset to the reference line at the keyboard and press ENTER to confirm.

Note: If you click a line that is not parallel to the reference line, the program treats it as the new reference line.
