The preview shows a schematic view of the component. Using a limited version of the viewport toolbar, you can display the preview using the standard views, Zoom All and theWireframe, Hidden and Animationview types. Navigation Mode is active by default. You cannot modify the view types.

The computation mode has a bearing on subsequent lists and schedules.

You might, for instance, list elements differently depending on the computation mode set here i.e., show the area of walls more than 4’’ thick and show the volume of walls more than 10’’ thick.

To specify a computation mode, select one of the modes (volume, area, linear) listed in the dialog box.

You can assign attributes to the element.

Depending on the wall type, walls can consist of up to 20 layers.

Each layer in a wall can be assigned different parameters, attributes and materials.
Make the appropriate settings in the corresponding line.

If you want to use the same settings for all layers, select the relevant check boxes for All layers same settings.

You can toggle this option on/off depending on whether you want components to join automatically.

Click Number to assign a room number. The last digit is automatically incremented by one.

Enter the thickness of the layer or select a value in the dialog box.

To enter a new thickness in the library, click and then enter a value.

To remove an entry, select the entry and then click .

To change an existing entry, select it and click . Entries you change in this manner are not saved and not added to the selection.

The factor you assign is used in subsequent evaluations and analyses of the building data.

For example, the floor area of room elements whose factor is set to 0.5 will be half that of the actual floor area.

To assign an area style, click the box beside Area style and select a style.

Area styles must already be defined.

To disable the area style, deactivate the Area style check box.

To assign a fill, click the box next to Fill and select a color.
In addition to a fill, you can also select a hatching style or pattern; the pattern is then used for thebackground color.

To disable the fill, deactivate the Fill check box.

Click Name to assign the room name.

To enter a new name in the library, click and then enter a name.

To remove an entry, select the entry and then click .

To change an existing entry, select it and click . Entries you change in this manner are not saved and not added to the selection.

The building trade assigned here is used later by the system to generate lists, schedules and analyze the building data.

To assign a building trade, click on an entry.

To assign a pattern, click the box next to Pattern and select a style.
If a background color is to be applied to the pattern, click the box next to Fill and select a color.

To disable the pattern, disable the check box next to Pattern.

To assign a bitmap area, click the box beside Bitmap area and select a file.

To disable the bitmap area, deactivate the Bitmap area check box.

The priority rating governs the way components of the same group behave when they intersect. A wall with a priority rating of 200, for instance, will run straight through a wall with a priority rating of 100 as its rating is higher.

One instance of element interaction is walls which cross each other’s path. A ‘hole’ is created in the first wall. The hole extends along the entire height of the wall. This is called element interaction. You can determine which wall has a section (hole) removed from it by setting a different priority rating for each wall. Walls with a higher priority rating have precedence over walls with a lower priority rating.
This interaction always occurs with elements of the same component group. But they do not interact with components belonging to a different group.

When a check mark is displayed beside this option, all the construction layers in the wall assume the height of the first layer.

When a check mark is displayed beside this option, all the construction layers in the wall assume the priority rating set for the first layer.

As a rule, this parameter should be set.

To assign a hatching style, click the box next to Hatching and assign a style.
If a background color is to be applied to the hatching, click the box next to Fill and select a color.

To disable hatching, deactivate the Hatching check box.

This is where you define the number of straight wall sections that go to make up a polygonal wall.

Inscribed means that the polygonal wall is based on the radius of an imaginary, inscribed circle. They are counted as partial sections. The division is at a tangent to the circle that you entered when defining the geometric outline.

Circumscribed means that the polygonal wall is based on the radius of an imaginary, circumscribed circle. Every wall section is counted as a partial section. The division is on a secant with the circle that you entered when you defined the geometric outline.

Some of the reports in area calculation, which you use later to perform area calculations, let you sort information based on Text1, 2 or 3.
