Dividing a 3D object or 3D surface along a surface

Tool(s): Subtract and Remove Solid + Subtract and Retain Solid

Using the Subtract and Remove Solid and Subtract and Retain Solid tools, you can divide an object or a surface along a bent or planar surface.

To divide a 3D object along a surface

1. Click Subtract and Remove Solid (How) or Subtract and Retain Solid (How).
   

   Activate Subtract and Retain Solid in one of the following ways

   • Actionbar:Role Draft Task Modeling Task area Boolean Operators

   • Menu bar: Create Bonus Tools 3D Modeling

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   3D Modeling

   

   Activate Subtract and Remove Solid in one of the following ways

   • Actionbar:Role Draft Task Modeling Task area Boolean Operators

   • Menu bar: Create Bonus Tools 3D Modeling

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   3D Modeling

2. Select the object you want to divide.
3. Select the surface along which you want to divide the object.

   Note: The surface used for division must be a single element.

   Allplan divides the object. Subtract and Remove Solid deletes the surface used for division.
