Extrude bars along path

Module(s): Bar Reinforcement

You can use the Extrude Bars Along Path tool to place bar reinforcement, which you defined in a cross section, along any path. You define the parameters in a palette.
You can only place bars created in Reinforce with 3D model mode. In addition, these bars must be in one drawing file.

To place bar reinforcement along a path

• You have created a section from 3D solids or architectural components using the Reinforcement Views module.
  Hide the visible edges so that you can only see the edges in the clipping plane.
• Using the Bar Shape tool, you have created the bending shapes of transverse reinforcement and defined longitudinal reinforcement using the Straight bar bending shape and the Straight bar as a point option in this section.
• You have created the reinforcement in Reinforce with 3D model mode, but you have not placed the reinforcement yet.
• You have created a polygonal path of 3D elements if you want to place the reinforcement across several 3D solids or architectural components. As an alternative, you can use any component edge as a path.

1. Click Extrude Bars Along Path (How).
   

   Activate Extrude Bars Along Path in one of the following ways

   • Actionbar:Role Engineering Task Reinforcement Task area Freeform

   • Menu bar: Create Engineering Bar Reinforcement

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Bar Reinforcement

2. Select the reinforcing bars you want to place together.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a selection rectangle, hold down the left mouse button and open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select.
   • Some tools allow you to select all elements in the current document by clicking All in the input options or pressing CTRL+A.

   When selecting elements, you can use filters, which allow you to filter by element type or property. For more information, see Using filters.

   The reinforcing bars to be placed together must be in the same drawing file. If this is not so, Allplan will issue a message.
   Switch to a different drawing file or select different reinforcing bars.

3. Select the path you want to use for the placement.

   Note: The path must be continuous and it must not branch. If the path consists of several elements you cannot select with one click, you can use the Brackets to select them.

   You can see a preview of the placement.

4. Define the parameters.
5. Press ESC.
   

Note: You can use Match to match the parameters of a different placement. You can use Save as a favorite to save the settings. With Load favorite, you can read the settings back into the palette, where you can then modify them. Click Favorite QuickSelect to select from the five favorites you have used most recently.

Note: You must use the properties palette if you want to modify extruded bar reinforcement.
