Defining additional formats for the printable area
You cannot define formats for the printable area (forms) for use with Windows drivers in Allplan. Instead, you do this at the operating system level.
- If you want to define additional formats for the printable area, log in as a user with administrator privileges or as the system administrator.
To define new forms under Windows 10/8/7/Vista
- Click Start at the bottom on the left. If you are running Windows 8/7/Vista, point to Settings and click Control Panel. If you are running Windows 10, point to All apps - Windows System and click Control Panel. Then click Devices and Printers.
- Select a printer and click Print Server Properties on the menu bar or click Server Properties on the File menu.
- Select the Forms tab and select the Create a new form check box.
- Enter a Form name and enter values to define the size of the new form in the Paper size area.
- Click Save and then OK.
Forms are usually device-independent and thus available on all printers (provided the form is not larger than the printable area of the device). However, some printers (e.g. OCE) manage forms on a device-specific basis.
To define new forms on a device-specific basis
- Click Start on the Windows start menu and click Devices and Printers.
- Select the printer and click Properties on the File menu.
The steps that follow vary depending on the selected printer. For example, you will see a tab called Paper Size or Details or there may be a button called Settings which you need to click.
Notes:
- The value you enter for Height should be larger than the value you enter for Width.
- Enter 0 for all settings in the Printer Area Margins area.
The printer driver will automatically subtract the margins from the Height and Width values. - The width of forms for paper rolls/DesignJet should not exceed 914 mm.
- Some printer drivers do not directly present the forms defined under Server Properties.
- With the latest HP DesignJet drivers, you can use user-defined forms as custom sizes.
- Some drivers, for example Oce, offer the options for creating forms in the default settings for documents.
