Displaying and printing layout information

Tool(s): Open on a Project-Specific Basis

ToolTips appear when you position the cursor over an entry. For the project node and the layout folders, these ToolTips always show the number of layout folders, layouts and linked layouts.

When you have selected the Show ToolTips with elements in layouts setting in the basic settings for the Open on a project-specific basis: layouts dialog box, the ToolTips also include information on layout elements placed (drawing files and NDW files) in layouts. When layout elements are placed multiple times, the number in brackets tells you how often a layout element is placed.

Regardless of the setting mentioned above, you can use the shortcut menu of a layout to list its layout elements. Here, however, you cannot see whether layout elements have been placed several times.

When you point to an icon of a layout that is in use, you can see a preview of this layout.

Using the Reports button in the Open on a project-specific basis: layouts dialog box, you can generate reports for the layouts in use. You can also generate reports using the Layout Content Reports tool (How).

Activate Layout Content Reports in one of the following ways

• Actionbar:Task Layout Editor Task area Layout Editor

• Menu bar: Create Layout

• Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

Layout

Reports are used for analyzing data in Allplan. They are saved as templates in RDLC format.

Reports can be printed, placed as PDF files in documents and exported to Excel and other formats.
You can change the layout of reports and save the result as a new template.

To generate reports for layouts

1. In the Layout module, click Open on a Project-Specific Basis (How)
   

   Activate / Open on a Project-Specific Basis... in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: File

   • Keyboard: ALT+O

   • Toolbar: Quick Access

   Tip: You can also double-click the left mouse button in the workspace.

2. Click Reports.
3. The Reports dialog box opens. Select the Administration folder and one of the following reports.
   • Layout list with documents: this report lists all the layouts that are used in the current project. The following information is provided for each layout: layout number, layout name, person editing the layout, date of creation and layout elements included (drawing files and NDW files, with number and name). Layout elements that are placed several times are also listed several times. You can choose to show or hide graphics.
     In the case of a layout structure with additional layout folders, you can use the Object filter to specify which layouts are to be included.
   • Layout overview with layout structure: this report lists all the layouts that are used in the current project. The following information is provided for each layout: layout number, layout name, display mode, layout type, person editing the layout and date of creation. You can choose to show or hide graphics, additional attributes assigned on the Settings tab and entries of the index table.
     In the case of a layout structure with additional layout folders, you can use the Object filter to specify which layouts are to be included.
4. Report Viewer opens, displaying the report. You can now edit the report as follows:
   • Customize the report
   • Print
   • Save the report as a file in Excel, PDF or Word format
   • Edit the report using Layout Designer.
   • You can save changes as a new template in RDLC format.
5. Print or save the report.

   You can also print the list to file. You can then distribute this print file electronically. If the list exceeds one page, you can choose to include all pages or selected pages in the print file.
