Fences, balustrades and railings are components that consist of many similar elements that are arranged along a line or path following the same scheme.

The path is divided into equal fields. The elements are always arranged in the same way - be it at the division points or within a section.

Definition of terms

• A section with all its elements is called a field.
• The whole of elements at a division point is referred to as a post.
• The handrail is defined by all the elements that stretch across the entire path.
• All the field, post and handrail elements together are referred to as a railing style.
• The type of division is a division style.
• Sections with different division styles can be included in a railing.
  These sections are called regions.
