Installation options

Note: Setup only presents the options that can be installed on your computer.

First-time installation

Allplan 2016 is installed to a new folder. Any existing installations of Allplan (2015 or earlier) are not affected. Setup does not transfer any data and settings to the new installation.

The following options are provided for transferring data later:

First-time installation and copy data from version

Allplan 2016 is installed to a new folder. Any existing installations of Allplan (2015 or earlier) are not affected. The office standard (\std), projects (\prj) and user data (\usr) are automatically copied from an existing version 2013/2014/2015 to the new installation folder.

This duplicates your database: you can use all the projects, defaults and resources both in Allplan 2016 and in Allplan 2013/2014/2015. This way, you can test the new version without losing your existing Allplan installation.

Bear in mind, though, that you should not mix data from different versions as the process of merging data later involves considerable effort.

Continue with first-time installation and copy data from version

This option is available when you have already installed Allplan 2016 and copied the data to a different computer that accesses the same data server. As a result, the data has already been transferred.

Update

The existing installation of Allplan 2016 is updated; the data is not affected.

Any existing installations of Allplan (2015 or earlier) are not affected.

Upgrade and transfer data from version 2013/2014/2015

Allplan 2016 is installed in an existing folder. The existing installation of Allplan 2013/2014/2015 is converted to Allplan 2016; all necessary settings are transferred (see Restrictions applying when transferring data). After having upgraded, you can no longer work with Allplan 2013/2014/2015.

Any existing installations that are older than Allplan 2013 are not affected.
