Replacing an individual instance of a plant object

Tool(s): Replace Plant Objects

To replace a plant object with another plant object

1. Click Replace Plant Objects (How).
   

   Activate Replace Plant Objects in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Modify Terrain Landscaping

   • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

   Landscaping

2. In the Input Options, select the Instances option.

   Note: You can use the Label option in the Input Options to specify whether labels are also replaced (with) or not (without).

3. Select the plant object(s) you want to replace.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.

   When selecting elements, you can use the Filter Assistant to apply a filter based on element types and/or properties. For more information, see Filter Assistant.

4. Select the plant object which is to replace the existing instance in one of the following ways:
   • Click the plant object which is to replace the existing plant object(s).
   • Click Smart symbol catalog in the Input Options to open the catalog and to select a plant object.

     Note: The instances that are in the current drawing file and in drawing files open in edit mode are replaced.

     Note: The setting for Resize smart symbol has an effect on the substitute object when you Replace Plant Objects. If the original plant object was defined and placed with this option being selected, the substitute object behaves in the same way even if it was defined with this option being not selected.
