Saving and naming log files
The log file is saved in the folder you have specified in the Settings, Advanced Settings tab. If you do not specify a folder, the program save the log file in accordance with these principles:
- In the TEMP folder
- If the TEMP folder does not exist or cannot be written to, the program saves the file in the TMP folder.
- If the TMP folder does not exist or cannot be written to either, the program saves the file in the current folder.
The log file uses a defined naming convention: filename (with unique extension) plus import or export plus the extension ‘.log’. _imp and _exp indicates the direction of conversion.
Example: exporting the FILE_1.DWG file will create the FILE_1.DWG_EXP.LOG log file.
When you import data using drag-and-drop operations, the log file is created but not displayed on screen.
- When you convert a batch file (.ncb), the program creates several log files:
- A log file with the name of the batch file (e.g. TEST.NCB.LOG). This file includes the names of the source files, destination files and log files.
- A separate log file for each document you convert.
- The coordinate range of the data in the file is shown at the beginning of the log file. Use this information after a trial run to set an appropriate additional offset, if necessary.
