Sharing a folder for the Allplan file storage

In order to add a computer as the file server to the workgroup environment, a folder must be shared.

Note: The folder for the Allplan file storage must be in a folder under a share. For example, if you want to use the folder D:\nem\Allplan for the file storage, the folder D:\nem must be shared.

To share a folder for the Allplan file storage

1. Start Windows Explorer on the computer you want to use for the file storage and switch to the folder to be shared.

   Note: To see the path to the Allplan folder, open the Services application and click Service - Hotline Tools - showcfg. The DATPFAD entry shows the path to the Allplan folder.

2. Click the folder you want to share with the right mouse button and, on the shortcut menu, choose Share....
3. Select Share this folder.
4. Make additional settings, if necessary, and click OK to confirm.

Basically, you can use any folder on any computer (Allplan does not have to be installed on this computer!) for the file storage. However, the following requirements must be met:

• The folder must contain a subfolder (e.g. Allplan).
• This subfolder, in turn, must contain the two subfolders prj and usr.

Due to its structure, the Allplan folder is particularly appropriate for this purpose.
