Configuring output channels
Output channels
When configuring an output channel, you select a printer (the device), the printer driver and a name for the output channel. You must define at least one output channel in order to use Allplan vector drivers for printing.
Output channel configuration consists of four steps:
- Select the printer (the device) to which you want to print.
- Select one of the two vector drivers for HP Designjets.
- Select a name for the output channel that is as descriptive as possible.
- Save the changes you made.
Important: if you do not, the output channels will remain unchanged!
To change or configure an output channel
- In the Services application, click Configuration - Output channels - Configure.
- A dialog box appears. Select the channel you want to change, or click New output channel if you want to configure a new channel.
- Click OK to confirm.
- Go through all the items in the next dialog box.
- Select Print via and select the printer (the printer queue) you want to use to send your output to. The list displays all the printers in your system.
- If you are working on a network, you must include the computer name when selecting a printer, e.g. '\\CAD1\Laser', instead of just 'Laser'.
- If an existing printer is not displayed, you can enter its name by going to Other printers. Enter the printer name according to the . Make sure than the name is not more than 48 characters long.
Click OK to confirm.
- Next select Output device and choose one of the two vector drivers for HP Designjets.
- Click OK to confirm.
- Select a Description and enter the name for the output channel.
The name should indicate the printer for which you have configured this output channel, as this name is also displayed in the dialog line in Allplan when you select the output channel.
Click OK to confirm. - Select Save configuration.
In order to finalize and save your configuration, you must select and confirm this menu item, or else your output channel selection entries will not be saved.
