Saving and naming log files

The log file is saved in the folder you have specified in the Options, Advanced Settings tab. If you do not specify a folder, the program uses the following convention to save the log file:

• In the TEMP folder
• If the TEMP folder does not exist or cannot be written to, the program saves the file in the TMP folder.
• If the TMP folder does not exist or cannot be written to either, the program saves the file in the current folder.

The log file uses a defined naming convention: filename (with unique extension) plus import or export plus the extension ‘.log’. _imp and _exp indicates the direction of conversion.
Example: Exporting a file called FILE_1.DWG will create a log file called FILE_1.DWG_EXP.LOG.

When you import data using a drag-and-drop operation, the program creates the log file but does not display it on screen.

• When you convert a batch file (.ncb), the program creates several log files:
  • A log file with the name of the batch file (e.g. TEST.NCB.LOG). This file includes the names of the source files, destination files and log files.
  • A separate log file for each document you convert.
• The coordinate range of the data in the file is shown at the beginning of the log file. Use this information after a trial run to set an appropriate additional offset, if necessary.
